Like all foam mattresses I've purchased, it comes in a vacuum-sealed bag and looks very, very compressed when not opened. The sealed mattress could easily be mistaken for a topper. But, after opening, my mattress expanded overnight to its claimed 6" height.
My mattress was from Boyd Specialty Sleep via Target.com, and the mattress label says it is made in China (SKU MEFR01311TW). Also like all foam mattresses I've purchased, this one had a normal foam odor when first opened, but it dissipated overnight.
Overall, an excellent and very comfortable 6" mattress for the price. Very happy with it.
